Description
In ancient China, elephants were seen as symbols of power, strength and wisdom. They were also believed to bring good luck and were often depicted in artwork and sculptures. Our incense holders feature a traditional Chinese decorative elephant of Yixing clay, a type of clay from the region near the city of Yixing in Jiangsu Province, China, used in Chinese pottery since the Song dynasty (960–1279). The figures are first made in a mold, and then hand polished to create the their rich tones.
